The good life is out there somewhere.
Went to the distillery district with my thinktank class to look at some galleries. I'm aware i'm going to come across as a snob (i'm completely over people thinking that) but it always amazes me how little people know about the world around them. For those of you who arn't aware, the distillery district is a beautiful old area in the east end of toronto that was-as you may have guessed-an old distillery. The gorgeous buildings are now mostly gallery space/specialty shops. The majority of my class had never even heard of the area, let alone had been there, and i still don't think realised the signifigance it held for artists/designers. It seems like so many of the people know nothing about what they really are going to school for, or the area in which they live, and i can't determine if it's because they just have no exposure to it, or they simply don't care. To me it seems, if you're interested in it, you'll seek it out. The whole trip simply disbused me of my notions that i had at the very least one thing in common with my 'peers'. I guess it was just another example of how something managed to be ruined for me because of others.
